April 30, 1807 Rio Conchos

30th April, Thursday. Marched at six o’clock, and at eleven arrived at the river Conchos 24 miles–beautiful green trees on its banks. I was taken very sick at half past ten o’clock.

Arrived at night at a small station [Saucillo] on the river Conchos, garrisoned by a sergeant and ten men from the fort Conchos, fifteen leagues up said river. Distance 43 miles.
